ALTAR SERVERS
The role of an Altar Server is to assist the Priest during the celebration of Mass. Boys and girls who are in the Third Grade and up are eligible to take part in this ministry. Training is offered on an ongoing basis throughout the year. Children in both public and parochial school are encouraged to be involved. LECTORS & EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION
- Eucharistic Ministers distribute the Eucharist (Body and Blood of the Lord) at parish Masses and bring Holy Communion to the sick and homebound.
- Lectors read the Word of the Lord at weekend liturgies and holy days.

USHERS
Ushers are ministers of hospitality, tasked with ensuring “All Are Welcome” at Sacred Heart Church. Ushers help seat people or assist the physically disabled or elderly and coordinate with those needing to receive Communion in their seat. Ushers assist in handing out worship aids for Mass, take up collections, ensure there are people ready to bring the gifts to the altar and, when necessary, help direct the congregation at Communion time. They greet Mass attendees upon their arrival and distribute bulletins and other materials as needed before and after each liturgy. Contact: Bernie Leach 272-3103 email: [email protected]
ALTAR ROSARY SOCIETY
The Sacred Heart Altar Rosary Society was founded in the 1930s. The primary goal of the society is to care for the church altars and linens. Members also form an honor guard and recite a decade of the rosary for a member’s funeral. Contact: Parish Office 518-274-1363 ext.2 email: [email protected]
BEREAVEMENT / LAZARUS COMMITTEE
Members of the Lazarus Committee assist Father in preparing the Church for the celebration of a Funeral. They welcome the family and friends at the Church entrance and distribute the program. They prepare the altar and arrange for the pall or cremains table to be in place. At Father’s request a team member may join Father when he meets with the Family. Additionally, they participate in the annual mass of Remembrance on All Souls Day where those who have passed in the year prior are remembered in a ceremony that includes their family. DECORATING COMMITTEE
The Decorating Committee is made up of parish volunteers who work to keep our church decorations beautifully arrnaged and current throughout the liturgical year and on hand for any special celebrations as they occur. LITURGY COMMITTEE
